World Champion returns to the court.
Cassie Jackman - World Open Champion in 1999 retired from squash in 2004. Fortunately for the purists in us she graced the court again in the VMSA State Championships held at Moorabbin.
A natural hitter of the ball, Cassie, from Norfolk on England’s east coast, won the world junior title in 1991 and went on to win 19 tour titles including the World Open in 1999. The only title to elude her was the British Open; she reached the final twice losing to Leleini Rorani in 1999, when she was the hot favourite to win, and Rachel Grinham in 2003. Her trophy case also includes a Commonwealth Games gold medal for doubles and a bronze for singles.
Cassie now adds the VMSA state championship to her impressive resume above.
Now happily married to an Aussie and rejuvenated, Cassie has been working her way back into the game she loves so much. We are very fortunate to have players of her quality to pass on knowledge to the juniors currently coming through in our sport.
